In order to remain an active member of the Personal Care staff,
a Certified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered
Nurse must maintain the qualifications required by the State of
Georgia. Failure to maintain these standards on an annual basis
will result in placement on the inactive list until the standards
are met. It will also mean that you are ineligible for an annual
raise until these requirements are met.
Certified Nursing Assistants
Requirements include:
Annual tuberculosis screening
test
Disclosure of hepatitis virus
exposure
CPR certification
Body Mechanics must be taken two
years
Copy of a current Georgia driver’s
license or picture I.D.
A working phone
Continuing education credits must
be maintained. Twelve hours of training per year are required. Personal
Care offers several free courses throughout the year of which you
may take advantage. Your attendance will be recorded and documentation
placed in your file. If you take courses somewhere other than at
Personal Care, please make a copy of any attendance credit records
and drop a copy at the office for your file. Continuing Education classes include: Body
Mechanics, Cancer Systems Review, Catheter/Ostomy Care, Client Rights,
Communication Skills, Death & Dying, Depression, Diabetes, Documentation,
Elder Abuse, Heart Disease, Hypertension, Home Etiquette, Infection
Control, Medical Ethics, Nutrition, Self Esteem, Spirituality, Stress
Management, Stroke, Team Communication, The Optimum Caregiver, Universal
Precautions, Weight Loss (Diet), Wound/Skin Care Team.

Professional Nurse license from
the State of Georgia
Current Georgia driver’s license
or picture ID
Proof of Car Insurance
Social Security card or birth
certificate
Current CPR certification and
PPD (tuberculosis inoculation)
Yearly performance review
Proof of six hours a year of Continuing
Education.
